Declare your Czech heritage

The upcoming Census of Population and Housing is a once in 5 years opportunity to help the community even if you are not an active member! Czechs have a history of non-conflicting migrants, easily assimilated into the majority population. To get the numbers right, however, it is important that we acknowledge our ancestry.

The collected numbers will be used throughout the next 5 years by the Bureau of Statistics, when allocating government support, SBS broadcasting in foreign languages and many areas of everyday life.

Therefore, if you, your parents or further ancestors came from Czech lands or have spoken the language at home, please, consider the ethnicity you are going to declare at the upcoming Census.

If you were born in Central Europe, when declaring your country of origin, it is important to indicate one of current countries -- Czech Republic or Slovak Republic. Czechoslovakia exists no more and such option would be disregarded and leading to inaccuracies.

Please, help us spread the word! Advise your family members and friends. If you know of individuals whom this may concern, please, help us reach them.
