After the second instance of the now traditional European Beer Fest, which took place just last weekend, Koliba is heading your way with another event, the Pork Festival "Zabijacka"! Czech beer at $6 a pint, pork specials on offer throughout the weekend and live music each night.

Most importantly, though -- on Saturday, 14. April, Koliba opens at noon to start a whole pig on a spit going for you for later that night! You know you don't want to miss that!

Koliba Czech and Slovak Restaurant are throwing a beer festival this year, featuring live music, beer garden, $6 large Czech beer on tap, grilled specials, and more. Running for three days, this is a great event for everyone looking to start Czech and Slovak summer in style. It is also a great opportunity to invite friends of other nationalities and introduce them to our cuisine and traditional beverages.

It has now been eight months since the first Czech and Slovak night took place at Koliba and numbers of visitors have been steadily rising ever since. This monthly event is meant for the members of the Czech and Slovak communities in Melbourne to socialize, meet each other and have fun.

After over a hundred people showed up at Sumava last month for a huge night out, we're returning to Koliba. This is going to be the fifth time we're having a Czech and Slovak Night and again, it's a special one. On Monday, 4. April, we're having an April Fools themed night!

What exactly the April Fools theme means we don't know. It's up to you. You show us! We all love to share a laugh and don't mind laughing at ourselves, so anything that would make you look like a fool will do. A silly t-shirt, a pen that gives electric shocks or a full fledged costume, it's all up to you. If you believe not wearing a mask is what makes you look like a fool the most, it's your choice. Also, feel free to come up with jokes and pranks, just play it safe.

You may be interested to hear that the night's funniest person is to be awarded a $1.000 voucher from Koliba Restaurant. Just a heads-up, the one and only DJ Hukacka himself is attending, too. If you can beat his funny face and win, it's the money well earned.

Thanks everyone who joined in for the first Czech and Slovak Night at Koliba Restaurant on September 20th. It was no doubt a huge success with heaps of delicious food, icy beer, music that reminds us of home and people making new friends and enjoying themselves.

The summer is starting to kick in and the last public holiday before Christmas -- the Melbourne Cup Day -- is closing in. For those not particularly interested in horse racing, here's a terrific idea on how to spend the Monday night of the long weekend.
