The Czech and Slovak Night

What a night! Kransky and goulash cooked over campfire, beer on tap, camping at Sumava, but most of all, people made the fourth Czech and Slovak Night a huge success. With almost 90 paying attendees we reached well over 100 visitors altogether, some of them from as far as Warrnambool and Malesice. A few days late, but better late than never, here's another Czech and Slovak newsletter. It's been a busy month, with all the Christmas and New Year's events organized by both the Czech and Slovak communities. We hope you've had a peaceful, very traditional Christmas and wish you a great year of 2011.

The Czech and Slovak nights have now become a tradition in Melbourne. With the January one replaced with the visit of the Slovak Embassy in Canberra, the 2011 Australia Day People's March and the picnic, the next one has to be huge! And it will!

This time it's going to be literally a night! Actually, it's going to be more than a night! A full Czech and Slovak day and night, and then another day, starting at 10AM on Saturday, 12. February, going for the entire Saturday, the night and finishing on the Sunday morning.

Slovaks in the 2012 Australia Day People's March

For the second time in so many years, together with over fifty groups representing diverse communities that build up Australia, proud Slovaks will march the streets of Melbourne City at the 2012 Australia Day's Our Day Our March.

Wearing folk costumes from various regions of Slovakia, carrying a loaf of bread, salt and Slovak symbols, under Australian and Slovak flags we will march into Domain Gardens where Slovak activities stall will be set up for up to 10,000 visitors to learn about our nation and its presence in Australia.
