For the fourth time in so many years, together with over fifty groups representing diverse communities that build up Australia, proud Slovaks will march the streets of Melbourne City at the 2014 Australia Day's March.

For the the very first time, together with over fifty groups representing diverse communities that build up Australia, proud Czechs will march the streets of Melbourne City at the 2014 Australia Day's March.

Wearing folk costumes from various regions of Bohemia and Moravia, under Australian and Czech flags, join the crowds and the Victorian Premier and Governor, and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne for the official Flag Raising ceremony. Then, march with us along Swanston Street, over the river and into Domain Gardens.

VodaFest at the Polish Festival

This month VodaFest participated at the Polish Festival at Federation square. Our team quickly Polish Festivalpicked up a nick name of "blue team" and was introducing to the broader Australian public Czech and Slovak food specialties such as BBQ cikanska, veal pattie, beef goulash and traditional cakes. All the menu received a favourable feedback and our team had a great time talking to all the nice people and spreading the word about VodaFest - Czech and Slovak Festival.

Children Playground Opening

The VodaFest Czech and Slovak Assocation would like to welcome you for a Grand Opening of the Children playground on the 23rd November from 11am-1pm at Sumava Peksa Park, Belgrave South. We will be celebrating with a BBQ and beer while children will be able to try out the new playground. The day will be full of activities for children - performing amateur theatre KUK and the Czech school of Melbourne. You are all welcome to join us!

VodaFest at Polish Festival

VodaFest Working Bee

VodaFest invites everyone to join our working bee to complete Stage 1 of the Children's Playground at Sumava. We will meet on Saturday, 19 October at 10 am. The cubby house needs painting inside and out, there's some work to be done on the sandpit and the slide needs testing. Everyone's welcome, bring working/painting clothes, paint brush and an electric sander if daddy has one.

Traditional Costume Function and Mother's Day Celebration

Entry: $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Dinner: $15 (dinner for children $7).

To make this function even more festive and enjoyable we will have a pleasure of greeting our guest performers from the Macedonian Cultural and Artistic Ensamble "Ilinden" from Footscray as well as some members of our Dance Group "Liptar".

Prizes will be given for folk costumes in two categories: Children up to 14 years of age, and adults. There will also be a prize for the oldest mother dressed in the traditional costume.
